Is a Wall Outlet Or Outlet Cover a hidden camera?
Usually not. Here's the specific thing that separates an innocent one from one worth a second look.
Why it's usually nothing
A fake-outlet camera needs its own hidden power source or battery, which is more expensive and harder to build than most other housings — so this is a real but less common hiding spot.
The tell that actually matters
A wall plate that sits slightly proud of the wall, doesn’t quite match the others in the room, or has a "socket" that looks a hair too shallow or off-center is the tell. Genuine fake-outlet cameras usually have one working socket and one dummy one — try plugging something into both.
The power check
By definition it looks unplugged from the front, so power isn’t the useful check here — fit and finish is.
